May 30 – St. Joan of Arc: Virgin, Heroine, Saint

On May 30, the Catholic Church commemorates St. Joan of Arc , also known as Joan of Arc —one of France's most famous national saints. Born in 1412 in Domrémy, she followed a divine calling at just 17 years of age and led France to a turning point against England in the Hundred Years' War. Joanna was a visionary, a fighter, and a deeply devout Christian. Despite her young age, she impressed with her determination, courage, and unshakable trust in God's guidance. After her capture, she was condemned as a heretic and burned at the stake on May 30, 1431. She was canonized by Pope Benedict XV in 1920.

She is considered the patron saint of France, soldiers, prisoners – and all those who stand up for justice.
